Contemporary Scene Study
Partnered in groups, you will rehearse and perform an assigned scene from a Contemporary American play. Using a variety of tools and techniques taught in class that are necessary to the modern performer, you will work on building a believable character that undergoes change and growth. These scenes will performed in the presentation on July 20th.
Instructor: Mark Barford
Shakespearean Scene Study
This summer, we’ll be taking an in-depth look at scenes from Shakespeare’s As You Like It. We’ll discuss the play as a group, and scenes will be assigned during the first week of class. As we dive into scene study, we’ll work on embodying Shakespeare’s language, demystifying the text, and analyzing the verse—all to build your actor toolkit and give you more confidence when approaching Shakespeare’s plays.
Instructor: Katharine McLeod
The Actor & The Target
Using a contemporary monologue of their choice, actors will explore the techniques of Declan Donnellan’s “Actor and the Target.” Actors will learn to approach material from a new angle, make active choices, find energy and purpose outside of themselves and release creative blocks.
Instructor: Benita de Wit
Acting the Monologue
It’s time to remix your repertoire! Throughout our sessions together, you will refresh a monologue currently in your repertoire and explore a new, contrasting piece provided by the instructor. We will focus on techniques to distinguish each character, showcase your range, and seamlessly transition between pieces.
Instructor: Kenneth J. Ray
Stage Combat
We’re going to learn some basic stage combat techniques and how to use them to create a safe and repeatable fight sequence. We’ll also learn what makes an effective fight scene and, if we’re good, maybe use some weapons. :)
Instructor: Brad Lemons
Neutral Mask
Masks are as old as theater itself (older, actually) and the masks of Comedy and Tragedy have become the Coat of Arms of acting. But how do you use one? And are they still valuable in today’s theatre world? Well, I’ll show you how, and yes they are! In this intensely physical class we’ll explore the tools derived from the Neutral Mask that can be directly applied to your work as an actor.
Instructor: Chris Browne Valenzuela
Broadway Workshops: Hamilton & Six

On-Camera Workshop: Self-Tape
In this class, students will have the opportunity to prep and tape real audition sides while participating in live feedback sessions. Additionally, they will learn tips and insights they can use while self-taping, taping for casting directors, and once they’re on set after booking.
Instructor: Jonathan Judge-Russo
Musical Theatre Performance
In our class you can expect to learn new tools and techniques to allow you to approach any song with confidence. Together we will choose one song for you to sing on the final Saturday showing. Be prepared for some intense work, and a lot of laughs and fun as we explore what works in both song auditions and performance.
Instructor: Sara Louise Lazarus
Vocal Technique
In this class, we will explore vocal warmups and exercises, and apply techniques from these exercises to song cuts of each student’s choice. Group singing technique and performance class is for singing actors at every level to find more comfort in expressing themselves through song. We will focus on breath work, tone, and body awareness in both a masterclass and individual setting.
Instructor: Chris Dilley & Meredith Lustig

Students will learn the basic fundamentals of ballet technique working on posture, body alignment, poise, musicality, building strength and coordination. I encourage a classroom of exploration and freedom of artistic expression.

This course will explore ways we can use movement to unlock new possibilities for our acting on stage. We’ll work on self-attunement, character development, expanding our physical and expressive range, and developing onstage relationships. We’ll be exploring the work of Laban and Bartenieff, along with other physical theater practitioners.
